Info about Professional Training

Opportunities are available for educators of all grade levels to be trained in EBLI. This training, combined with required on-site consultation for the 3-day training, will provide trainees with the EBLI information and techniques to assist their students in reaching their highest potential in reading and spelling. Neither the traditional or secondary training is intended to provide educators with information or materials to teach other educators how to teach EBLI. There is no ‘Train the Trainer’ component in EBLI as previous attempts to do so have resulted in severe watering down of instruction and poor results with students.

3 Day Traditional EBLI Training

This training is intended for Elementary teachers and K-12 (and older) Literacy Coaches, Special Education Teachers, Title I staff, and Paraprofessionals. Consulting is mandatory for this training (click here for details)

2 Day Secondary Teacher EBLI Training

This training is focused on teaching secondary staff EBLI strategies and techniques imbedded in content area vocabulary instruction. It is intended for all Middle School and High School content area teachers as well as ACT Prep Teachers.

Recommended Classroom Supplies

Classroom sets of materials needed for implementation of strategies with students upon return from training:

• White boards 12x18: We recommend getting melamine sheets from Home Depot or Lowes cut into this size. The cost is approximately $13 per sheet and you get 20 boards per sheet
• Markers: A link to our favorite markers -- dryerase.com/markers.htm We recommend blue or purple Next Generation markers
• Erasers: Kleenex, old socks, cut up towels, or the mini erasers at the link above.
• Laminated 1x1” squares on colored paper
• Reading material (classroom text books, authentic text, articles, etc)

Training Refreshers

Those who have participated in our live training sessions will receive a password that allows them to log on to our Training Refresher page to view videos that help to remind them of the techniques learned. These videos are not available to the general public.
