Why EBLI?

Reading is one of life’s most important skills. It is the key to knowledge, adventure, understanding and enlightenment. Using EBLI, students – and adults – can learn to read to their highest potential, which then allows them many more choices in life.

EBLI (Evidenced-Based Literacy Instruction) consists of research-based reading strategies, skills, and activities, which provide students with the means to achieve outstanding results in the shortest possible time. EBLI training is available for educators, volunteers, and parents so they can implement the strategies with students in their own instructional setting.

EBLI Is About Results: If you are one of the many parents or teachers searching for the answers, you have come to the right place. EBLI instruction improves phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, and comprehension. Regardless of age, acquiring better reading skills improves grades, job performance and confidence -- and all of life’s adventures.

EBLI students typically improve several grade levels in reading in a very short amount of time. These gains can be achieved in whole class or small group instruction as well as one-on-one intervention.

An Important Key to EBLI’s Success is our ability to continuously refine the strategies. At our clinic, Ounce of Prevention Reading Center (OOPRC) [Map Link], we teach students reading skills and strategies in a professional, one-on-one teaching environment. This setting and the classrooms in which we consult serve as the laboratory to evaluate the effectiveness of updated research-based reading interventions. If results show new techniques are more efficient, we modify the EBLI training and include these to improve instruction.

“I can’t begin to tell you how eye-opening EBLI has been for me. I learned more in three days about teaching reading than I ever did in all my college classes.”
-- Adam Poel, Special Education Teacher    East Jordan (MI) Middle School
