The week of May 11th, Michigan was the featured state in the 50 in 52 Journey project. The Journey - highlighting one state per week and focusing on the good that's happening in our country - searches out, interviews, and celebrates 'ordinary people doing extraordinary things' in their communities, cities, and states. Nora Chahbazi, founder of EBLI and Ounce of Prevention Reading Center, was nominated and had the honor of being featured in this project.
Michigan’s Best Award in Language Arts was awarded to Milan High School by the Michigan Association of School Boards. Read more about the EBLI based mentoring program that resulted in their receiving this prestigious award.

Below is an excerpt from the soon-to-be-published book From Learning Disabled to Enabled by Wendy Crick. Wendy is a 6th grade Language Arts teacher in East Jordan, MI. She has used EBLI with her students for the past 4 years, after her own formerly 'learning disabled' 6th grade daughter progressed out of Special Education classes and into honors classes in high school.
A scholarship for 3-day EBLI training is awarded bi-annually to honor Joseph Bryant who, along with 5 of his siblings, perished in a house explosion. Read about Joseph as well as some of the winning essays below
